While modern construction techniques allow structures to be built faster, some ancient construction techniques have stood the test of time. These two photos show the contrast between old and new.
On the left is a photo of an ancient alleyway in The Old City of Jerusalem. Adjacent to the steps is a walkway of paving stones with grooves cut in to the stones intended to prevent slipping. Most likely the grooves were cut with a type of hand chisel. Pictured on the right is a scarifying machine we use at Blackwell’s for the same purpose.
