Forklifts have become an almost indispensable piece of equipment used in warehouses and industries. Their first reported use was about 1906. If you’ve ever been in a warehouse, then you’ve most likely seen forklifts being used to move heavy objects and pallets of materials short distances.
Most forklifts are rubber tired, which works well on the concrete floors found in most warehouses and industrial facilities. Concrete is a hard, durable material known for its strength. That’s why it is used for the floors.
Concrete can be very dusty and stains easily, making it very hard to keep clean and attractive. One solution is to coat the concrete with an epoxy resin. Epoxy has been around less than a hundred years, but it’s known for its durability once cured. An epoxy resinous coating can give an industrial concrete floor a beautiful, easy to keep clean, long lasting, cost effective, and even chemical resistant floor.
Sharply turning fork lifts and fork lifts continually sliding pallets (especially pallets with exposed nails and broken wood) or metal objects, will eventually abrade, cut or gouge the floor.
Plant managers should develop a plan for preventing damage to the floor, including educational training for their fork lift operators and employees.
