When the nature of your business requires a re-enforced chemical resistant containment system or an aesthetically pleasing concrete floor coating system, Blackwell's Inc. will be glad to provide specifications and a quote. It's what we do.
Our extensive concrete repair experience and attention to time lines, can work to make your next "down" smoother.
Blackwell's maintains a corrosion technician on staff. We are pleased to be a member of I.C.R.I. (International Concrete Repair Institute) which keeps us well-informed of the latest technologies and sciences on repair and restoration of concrete.
We are located south-west of Atlanta, GA and service Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Epoxy Floor Coating Systems
Epoxy floor systems are versitile, durable, and offer great adhesion.
They come in many different colors and are available in a variety of blends, with solvent free 100% solids being the most popular. We utilize Novalac epoxy when an area calls for high chemical resistance. Epoxies offer superb adhesion and are sometimes used as a primer.
Epoxy products are two-component, comprised of a resin and a hardener. These are typically installed at approximately 8 to 35 mils thickness and thicker if aggregate-filled.
With the addition of aggregate, an epoxy floor can have
a non-slip surface and can be top-coated with urethane
for a more scuff resistant finish.
Old industrial facility concrete floors take on a new look when
coated with epoxy as evident in the pedestrian aisle above
and the floor below. The floor above also shows how concrete
polishing can dramatically improve the look of plain concrete.

Chemical Resistance
Whether the nature of your business requires a reinforced chemical resistant containment system or an aesthetically pleasing flooring system, Blackwell's Inc. will be happy to provide specifications and a quotation.
Does your facility utilize materials that require containment? Our associates are trained in confined space entry, Hazard Communications, HAZMAT and HAZWOPER.
Above photos show before and after coating of secondary spill containment.
Support pads of chemical resistant vinyl ester.
Blackwell's Inc. offers a variety of chemical resistant coatings. Epoxy or vinyl ester coating can provide resistance to most aggressive substances.
It is very important that all items that are potentially exposed to the floors in question be divulged before any work can begin. Once we have all of the parameters, we will gladly suggest a floor coating recommendation suitable for your particular environment.

Quartz Flooring
Beautiful and durable, quartz floors are popular in office settings, kitchen areas or wherever you want to "show off" the shine.
The typical quartz floor is built on the integrity of the quartz granule. A thick binder coat of epoxy is installed and while still wet, filled to excess with quartz. Once dry, all excess is swept away and a second coat of epoxy and quartz is applied followed by a grout coat of clear epoxy. Then a clear chemical resistant topping, either Novalec epoxy or a chemical resistant urethane, is applied. The final system will range in thickness of 1/16" to 1/8". Each quartz coat is identified as a "seeding". Double "seeded" floors are the most popular.
You can create a floor of your choice in various colors. Textures can be altered by varying the final coat's thickness. If you desire a smooth surface or a rough surface - no problem! The results will surely amaze you.

Self-Leveling
Does your floor need leveling? Call Blackwell's Inc. We'll install a self-leveling cement to your wavy or uneven floor.
All floors designated to receive self-leveling cement will be shot blast prepared to establish an adhesion profile. The material will be mixed in a twin hopper batch mixer, and pumped to the floor. Once applied, the self-leveling cement is pulled smooth and allowed to dry.
Pre-fill may be required prior to the placement of self leveling cement. The finished product may be coated, tiled, or carpeted.

Static Dissipative Systems, Conductive, and Spark Proof Flooring
Today's high-tech manufacturing facilities require flooring with static dissipative and conductive properties.
Blackwell's can service all of your ESD flooring needs.
Most of our systems are carbon based and require adequate grounding points within the facility. It is important to provide your Blackwell's sales representative with all details and requirements for your coating. Blackwell's is a certified applicator of ESD systems.

Urethane Floor Systems
Hygienic facilities found in hospitals, laboratories, electronic manufacturing, and the pharmaceutical industry, require a very high standard of seamless flooring. Urethane is ideal for these "clean room" facilities. Urethane systems are very durable and can be colored with ease. It is typically of a high gloss appearance and is striking in appearance.
The urethane coated epoxy floor in this pharmceutical clean room in the picture on the left, is not only easy to clean, but offers outstanding resistance to abrasion and corrosion.
Urethane systems are typically installed with an epoxy based primer. An installation consisting of epoxy primer and two coats of urethane remains one of the industry's best values. Chemically-resistant urethanes are often used in aircraft hangars.
Urethane coatings are available in varied systems. One component, two component, and three component urethane motar systems are quite popular. Whether chemical resistance, thermal shock, abrasion resistance, or aesthetic attractiveness, urethanes fit the equation.

Overlays and Mortars
These steps were poorly placed and marred with bug holes, rock pockets,
form marks, and a non-uniform color. We repaired the steps and created
a uniform color with an epoxy overlayment.
Epoxy mortar systems will provide for long-lasting floor systems in your facility by providing a substrate that is strong and flat. These types of systems are suitable for new concrete and provide the necessary protection for a long lasting floor or for use on old concrete to repair any damage which has occurred over the years.
Once we shot blast the floor, it receives a coat of primer followed by epoxy mortar. Once in place, floors are then troweled to create a flat surface. All the joints are saw cut into the now new surface and then filled out flush. Now the floor can be topped with several different materials - whichever fits your particular need or desire. One of the most popular is an epoxy material. These provide a durable finish to the mortar surface.
Mortar systems come in several colors. The ability to resist chemicals depends on the type of binder resin utilized in the application.
