They are popular in office settings, kitchen areas or wherever you want to "show off" the shine.<br /><br />The typical quartz floor is built on the integrity of the quartz granule. A thick binder coat of epoxy is installed and while still wet, filled to excess with quartz. Once dry, all excess is swept away and a second bonder is applied. Once again, the wet surface is filled to excess with quartz. Once this dries, a grout coat of clear epoxy is installed to get the surface profile desired.  Then a clear chemical resistant topping, either Novalec epoxy or a chemical resistant urethane, is applied. The final system will range in thickness of 1/16" to 1/8".
